– – Not the cosmological model…but rather what was once called the “dumb show about smart guys.” Featuring brilliant but socially inept science nerds, the show has an undeniable chemistry among ensemble cast members and makes intellectualism admirable. You might catch a glimpse of someone you know among these characters, certainly not yourself (snorts while laughing and adjusts his pocket protector)!
Theory is centered around the character of Sheldon as played to perfection by Jim Parsons, who looks as he is taunted on a recent show “like a preying mantis.” “That’s very hurtful,” he responded. Sheldon speaks with precise, impeccable, comically fussy grammar, possibly the best delivery on television. Neurotically afflicted with OCD and hypochondriasis, Sheldon is living in a world that he can never really be a part of; he is in the world, but not of it. Truly there is, as Peanuts once observed, no greater burden than having a high potential.
This is one of the best, most intelligently written comedies ever on television! Who ever would have thought that post-doctoral physicists could be featured in an engaging show on a major network? Big Bang Theory works on a variety of levels…maybe there’s hope for us yet!

– – No, they haven’t found the Dogman of Wisconsin…it’s just some Australian art turning heads and uniting playfulness with an edgy sexual content.
The exhibition titled “Returning to the Animal Within” is by Marc and Gillie Schattner of Sydney, and features 20 paintings and five sculptures of dog-headed humans at play and in repose. The sculpture pictured titled “Good Boy” shows that canine-human chimeras also enjoy a good cup of coffee, but its anatomical correctness resulted in police investigating an obscenity charge.
An upcoming sculpture depicts a dog-man in a suit stooping to pick up his own poop; a good example, and environmentally responsible!- -‘Mutt or smut?–You decide!

– – A sign that we are slowly but surely taking over the internet is the prevalence of animal memes on line at diverse sites. Ranging from the silly and simply stupid to the profound or profane, these words of at times questionable wisdom often linked to an animal image frequently with colored focusing elements have created near cult followings, and with good reason…they are cool, and they are us!
Have alpha male stirrings or at least untapped rage within you?- -Listen to Courage Wolf!- –Struggling with your ‘puter?–Turn to commiserate with Technologically Impaired Penguin. There are many others, or you can make your own…

– – It’s a twisted world after all, and Geico has the perfect commercial to commemorate this fact; called “Piggy,” it puts a twist on the old nursery rhyme about the little piggy who cried “Wee! Wee! Wee! all the way home.”
Leaning out of a back window of an SUV, this little piggy does just that, much to the chagrin of an annoyed and weary mother and her son. He even holds two pinwheels out of the window as he does it! Not to worry, though…the piggy’s wearing his seatbelt! When this ultimate annoying rider makes it home, he declares “Oh, cool!,” and thanks his ride. Viewable on YouTube and many other sites, and well worth a look…
By the way, the pig’s name is “Maxwell,” and the long-suffering driver is “Mrs. A”…

– – Now this is disturbing, not that the Burger King isn’t; food which fights back as people attempt to eat it! The new Grey’s campaign for Tums features furious and funny food fights (– -Holy alliteration, Batman!) that are tamed only by the fast-acting antacid! Talk about food coming back on you…
There are three spots, in one of which a spicy chicken wing whacks its would-be consumer repeatedly across the face, complete with kung fu movie sound effects! The guy winds up with his face liberally decorated with barbecue sauce…PETA would love this! Another spot features tacos of terror…(of course, tacos and other foods have been known to come back for another round the next day!)
Tums, not surprisingly, takes the fight out of the pugilistic entrees. (–Imagine a classic martial arts film on G4 or the like in which Bruce Lee enters a Kentucky Fried Chicken and challenges to take on any poultry wing in the place!- -Or perhaps, Night of the Living Dead Shrimp!) This does, however, add new meaning to the warning to watch what you eat…be afraid, be very afraid! 😉

– – As if furries didn’t get enough disrespect, a Japanese zoo in February practiced response to a tiger escape using…and I swear I am not making this up…a guy in a tiger suit!
A Tokyo animal park conducted the drill to train the zookeepers in emergencies such as a tiger escaping. About 100 firefighters took part in the drill, together with police and one person in a tiger fursuit. To his credit, the cute stunt tiger evaded authorities for minutes while zookeepers practiced taking shots with a tranquilizer gun and eventually capturing the ferocious furry. He did knock one of them down, and they will probably remember him…this is, after all, the Year of the Tiger!

– – This Minute Maid commercial is priceless! “Mr. Hill, there’s something wrong with Scooter!,” cry elementary school students in alarm to their teacher. At first, he’s drowsy and really doesn’t care, only reassuring the kids that he’s kept the store receipt for the unresponsive rabbit.- –Somebody forgot to boost!
Then in an alternate scenario, the teach when alerted slams down some Minute Maid Enhanced Strawberry Kiwi juice, spies floating helium balloons tethered nearby, rubs the balloons on his hair, and then applies the balloons to the bunny in distress, the static electricity acting like a cardiac defibrillator! Scooter is saved, jolted back to life and awakening with his static-charged fur standing on end while the class cheers!
Now you see why science education must never be neglected, to say nothing of enhanced fruit juices…

– – The lady inviting the “Kitty” into her house to snuggle with her in bed needs her eyes checked badly, ’cause what she’s really inviting in is a rather large raccoon, who roams right in, and makes himself at home! The commercial ends with the raccoon blissfully reclining on the woman’s bed.
The woman in this hilarious and brilliant Sears Optical commercial needs to be more careful, ’cause raccoons don’t have the best of reputations… 😉

– – He ain’t cute, cuddly, or good-looking. It’s not even a great fursuit. But you gotta love this guy, and these commercials!
It’s the d-Con Dinner Guest or “Get Out” commercial series, featuring an uninvited guest of the rodent persuasion as he gets into homes where he’s simply not wanted. In one episode, this life-size, scruffy-looking mouse is confronted by the female homeowner, who sneers, “You disgust me!” to our hero. He’s not shaken; “Prove it!,” he counters in a deadpan monotone.
Maybe you wouldn’t want this guy in your house either, but I’d have him in for coffee and a Danish…he’s refreshing, furry, and a wonderful antihero!- -What a great counter to the usual cutesy mice we see!- –Bravo!!!- –As Soupy Sales would have had it, “Let’s all do the Mouse!”
– -Two paws up for this world-weary, unflappable rodent!
