“I’m a bear,” offers Winters, “coming out of hibernation after the best nap of my life. And Papa is HUNGRY!” What, you’ve never seen a bear in a suit before? He comes up through the forest to the partially opened window of an SUV, peering through it in an exploratory fashion…
Without effort, Winters/Bear rips the door off the SUV, going inside in search of food. “And while you’re hitting the trail,” he elaborates, “I’m hitting your cooler!” Foodstuff goes flying out of the vehicle, with Winers happy to find some hot dog rolls…
When he’s done, our well-dressed bear whaps the mirror off the side of the vehicle, just for good measure. Now your insurance may not pay for all of this devastation, so you may wanna get Allstate to be protected from Mayhem, reminds Winters…”Like me!” He roars unconvincingly as he walks off, his job there done…

No, the closest thing I ever saw to a bear in a suit was the one at Jellystone Park who wore little more than a necktie and a lop-sided fedora. Talk about crimes of fashion!

What I would love to see is Progressive’s “Flo” (or maybe “Jamie”) in a steel cage death match with Allstate’s “Mayhem” guy… 🙀

Dean Winters has an incredible ability to capture the essence or behavior of animals, an effect that is carried entirely by his acting as he doesn’t wear makeup, a costume, or prosthetics when in character. His “cat” commercial was my personal favorite, slapping his new owner when they first brought him home and presumed to pet him!

Wow! Dean Winters is really amazing, he can portray different characters with ease and make it looks so natural. His role as a bear in a suit is so clever and funny. He can make the audience laugh with no effort. Allstate’s “Mayhem” commercials are really memorable and entertaining, thanks to Dean Winters. Big thanks to the author for sharing this wonderful post.
