Sounds a lot like those homicidal garden gnomes from the two R. L. Stine movies featuring Jack Black. As for Norwegians being more peaceful (or, at least, less trigger-happy) than us Americans?

I remember Ian Bannen telling this story at Sean Connery’s televised pre-retirement testimonial. They were doing a thriller called “The Terrorists” (about a KGB-sponsored leftwing terrorist group taking over a Norwegian jetliner). And some of the prop munitions had not yet cleared customs for the on-location shooting. So, the two movie stars and the director when to their military technical advisor…who had a trunkful of automatic weapons in his own household!

Bannen quoted the advisor as saying, in reference to the Nazi occupation of Norway (and Sir Connery nodded in affirmation of this): ”They caught us unprepared, once, Mr. Bannen. Never again! Never again!” ;-)

    That should’ve read “Ian McShane.”

One more correction: the original movie title was “Ransom.” The syndicated-for-telecast title is how its listed at IMDB.
