Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!
– – We’re not talking The Wizard of Oz, either…but in 2001, police raided a local drugs gang in Atlanta, Georgia who were keeping a lion, a tiger, and a bear cub as status symbols.Ā Well, the three predators were rescued by the Noah’s Ark Animal Rescue Centre in Atlanta, and lived in the same enclosure upon their arrival at the animal sanctuary.
They were allowed to stay living together, and an unlikely friendship flourished.Ā Nine years later, Leo the lion, Shere Khan the tiger, and Baloo the bear are still together…Believe It, Or Not!

Speaking of jungle books; as much as people deride the stereotypical pidgin-English used by Johnny Weismuller’s version of Tarzan, it’s still way more linguistically plausible than the literary version created by ERB.
I mean, come on! Able to _print_ fluent English (without initially being able to _speak_ it), through sheer genetic memory? Nah-uh!

And speaking of stereotypes, remember Jay Silverheels who played “Tonto” on “The Lone Ranger” TV series? Although educated at Oxford, he had to speak lines like “Come quick, Kemo Sabe!–Heap big trouble in town!”

On the other hand, he used it to good effect when he made Johnny Carson crack up on “The Tonight Show.”
Jay played Tonto, applying for a real-world job, and Johnny played the personnel director interviewing him. If you can find the DVD compilation featuring this, get it.
IT’S HILARIOUS!
That, and the Case of the Clean Copper Clappers (lol!).
